About

This is a rare bone china necklace designed by Kenneth Jay Lane for the Royal Worchester Company in 1976. Lane went to the Royal Worchester headquarters in England and chose several of their classic bone china patterns to fashion into collar necklaces and bracelets. The pieces were stamped on the back with the Royal Worchester hallmark and had a hang tag with Kenneth Jay Lane's signature. This necklace still has its paper tag - a rarity as most have been lost over the years. It is featured in Kenneth Jay Lane's book, 'Faking It' (see photo #9). The bone china pattern used for this necklace is called, 'Blind Earl', it was developed in the 18th century for the Blind Earl of Coventry. The pattern is actually raised (see photo #5) so that the Earl could feel the pattern since he wasn't able to see it. It is in excellent condition. The only thing to note is that there is some oxidation to the metal on the closure. The necklace measures 15" around the interior. Braided white silk cord attaches the closure to the bone china piece.
